Fleeces, frost and frolicking fun

The weather is finally starting to get colder..well it did for one day anyway...now it's warm and slushy again. We had a -2c day on Sunday which the kids loved. Lotsa frozen puddles to crack and icy grass to run about on. Sandpits are odd when they freeze too. Sorta like ice cream coated in chocolate crackle; ie frozen solid on top but soft underneath. We had a great time playing all day outside. We met up with Pabba at the 'Sheep fair'. Why we came all the way from New Zealand to hang out with sheep I'm not sure but the kids loved the live sheep and goats, goats' milk pancakes and lammas makkara and Aiti loved all the wool to buy. We then headed over to the kids' favourite park; Kuppita, and spent the afternoon playing outside there. Followed by our new Sunday afternoon ritual...family animated movies. I seem to recall this was also a London tradition with the Bartons but now it's sans hangovers and Rocket Pizza.

Then today Pabba took us all to Mehukatti Lastenmaailmassa, which is a giant indoor playground. If you're a parent you know the deal. Daddy usually hates these places because they're full of other people's screaming kids, but this is the biggest one we've ever seen....and we were the only people in the entire place! It had 2 bouncy castles, a climbing wall, 8 trampolines, 2 ball pools, giant building blocks, oversized keyboards, a three storey maze of slides, balance beams and the usual net-enclosed madness. Oh and unlike NZ all the usually coin operated games were free! But the highlight (well for K anyway...and maybe Daddy) was the room with an air compressor powering a whole heap of different games to play with foam balls including an array of mounted air cannons! Yeah! Much time was spent stuffing t-shirts full of balls to restock ammo and running back up to the guns. Awesome that we were the only ones there. Thanks to Pabba for an awesome day!

Cute and cuddly farm animals...always a hit.

Bundled up and loving the crunch of frozen puddles.

Frosty daze.

"Ahoy!"

Kid heaven. And this is only about a 1/4 of it!

Balls!

More balls!

Free climbing
