Kasper loved Marko's Garage...it had not only a drum but a full range of tools, a kiddy size 50cc motor bike (which he can use once he can ride a pushbike!) and Marko's 2 fully reconditioned from scrap 56 and 66 VW beetles.Thursday, 7 July 2011
Juhannus!
We visited Marko, Heli, Pinja and Tinka for Juhannus or midsummers eve and were joined by Noora and Andrea aka Andy Käksi and had a great time. The kids loved the "big girls" and their trampoline. M & H live in a fairly small town on the edge of the forest so they have lots of room and a great lifestyle. Lots of time spent eating; particularly chilli stuff as Marko is fanatical about hot stuff...chilli chips, chilli peanuts, chilli salmiaki, chilli gummy bears, insane hot sauce...the list goes on. Marko fresh smoked a whole salmon and all the guys made their own version of ribs... the results were declared a draw. And then there was the makkara. Finns have a love of sausages bordering on obsession...I think we had about 9 or 10 different kinds. A sampling included...Smoked reindeer and wild mushroom, bacon and cheese, horse and cheese, plaited ones, little ones, long ones and fat ones. Yeah, I could probably be more descriptive but the sausages were a late night event...I'm pretty sure we may have drunk a few A Le Coqs by then. Anyhow I digress...the pictures:
