We headed out Ruissalo; an island just outside Turku, last week with Pappa to check out the beach and see if the mushrooms had arrived yet. There was a rock festival with 67000 people there over the weekend so the beach was a bit of a mess. However we found some cool sunglasses washed up on the beach which K & E enjoyed rocking. Mushroom searching was vaguely successful...it was mostly a recon mish to see if there were any...we got enough for a pizza.
On Wednesday Satu, Roope, Roosa and Anni Mummi came to visit and after a hearty moose stew cooked by Daddy we went to the kids' favourite park: Kupittaanpuisto. This place is awesome! There's 3 different playgrounds, a paddling pool, a proper swimming pool complex, kids theatre, indoor gym, a driving park for kids with pedal cars, a bird park, loads of sports fields, a skatepark, a rollerblade track...which converts to a iceskating track in winter (how cool is that!) and heaps of regular activities for kids. Last time I went there with Kasper we spent an hour building a boat in the craft tent using real drills, saws, vices, hammers etc.The kids all had a great time running around, riding on a 4 person pedal car, eating iceblocks and generally hanging out.
