Daddy had a few days spare so K, Emi, Pabba and him zipped over to Launonen to stay with Marko and Heli and the big girls in their new Kesämökki. We had a full on hunter gatherer few days...well more gatherer than hunter....and returned home with about 4 kgs of apples, a kilo of chantarelles, about 2kgs of blueberries, and 1/2 a kilo each of blackcurrants and puolukka....along with assorted other goodies from the grandma's. The kids had an awesome few days...but I think by the time they got home they were a bit tired of looking for mushrooms and berries!
This yeast risen artwork is a rotina rikeli. It's a giant cardamon and raisin infused sweet bun that only gets made when someone has a baby. K & Emi's Greatgrandma; Aino Mummi, is making this one for their Uncle Sami's first baby. It's yet to have it's second prove here so will be a lot bigger when it's baked.
K helping out with another pulla made from the leftover dough.
I am the master of the apple tree!

...and more.
Pabba teaching K the fine art of onki; fishing with worms.
K's first ever fish, an ahven.
Proud! We roasted this one on the fire. Emi ate most of it.

Bird house bonanza. Part of an exhibition outside the hunting museum in Riihimäki.
Flag themed avian living.
K cleaning his chantarelles that he gifted to Annimummi.
This is where Emi would have Pabba living if she had her way...in front of the stove making pancakes!
K practising his blueberry picking skills.
Chantarelles and the first of the season's Suppilovahvero. Daddy also found a single perfect little Herkkutatti.
